This is the March 2019 copy of the Club's News letter.

President, Keith Kendrick writes: Well another season will soon be here, it should be quite an interesting one, with both the Thursday evening teams in the same division.  I’m sure there will be plenty of ‘friendly’ rivalry during those games!  I hope everyone will enjoy themselves wherever they play and support the Club as much as possible not only on the playing and social side but also with helping wherever they can with some of the more mundane, but necessary, jobs around the club.I look forward to seeing you all on Opening Day for the drive, hopefully the weather will be kind to us, and we all get our bowling arms going well and we have a very successful season.  Keith.

Message from the Chairman: Viv Sword. I can hardly believe that we are now very close to another Opening Day!  I am hoping for a sun hats and sun cream season again, rather than a thermal vests and hand warmers type season we have suffered in the past.  Whatever the weather, I hope we have a successful and enjoyable few months of bowling and I, for one, cannot wait to get out on that green, which has been lovingly nurtured through the winter by Anthony and John.As most of you will be aware, one of our Founder Members, Arthur Bryant, died recently.  Arthur loved this Club and was very proud of its achievements.  He was always very encouraging to, and supportive of, new members and he was a mine of information on the rules of bowling.  On a happier note, I very much look forward to seeing you all on April 13th – let’s have a good lunch and a lively bowls game afterwards!  Viv.

Sandy Sargeant: Club Captain  The new season will soon be upon us – let’s hope it is a warm and sunny one.  Our Club Roll Ups will now be on Friday Evenings from 6.30pm onwards and we hope that many of you will come along on a Friday evening to enjoy participating and as the Bar will be open have some social time together as well.  The Committee have sent out fliers in the April Parish News Magazine inviting people to come along and try bowling on a Friday evening.  We hope it will encourage new people to join the Club, but we need our bowling members to be there on Friday evenings to welcome any newcomers and so we hope to see you having fun on a Friday Evening!  Wishing everyone a happy and successful year. Sandy.

Competition Secretary – Anthony Foulger  Well thankfully we will soon be bowling outdoors again!  Opening Day will be on 13th April.  I look forward to seeing you all!  Hoping many of you will enjoy lunch and enter the prestigious ‘Bell Cup’ which is traditionally presented to the winner on Presentation Night.  Please turn up for the drive in the correct attire which is white tops and greys to avoid the embarrassment of not being allowed to play.  The menu for the lunch is up on the notice board. Please put your names down or phone me. Anthony.

Greenkeeper – Anthony Foulger  A reasonably kind winter has meant that the green is in fairly good condition.  I only hope it will bowl as well as it looks!  Due to quite a lot of rain this winter we have issues with disease and moss.  This we have dealt with throughout the close season.  As the weather is warming up, we will be fertilizing to encourage growth.  The green will be used constantly during the season so please treat it with respect!  No bowling from the hip please!  Please bowl on the rinks indicated and do not bowl on rinks that have been closed.  If a visiting team can find the green after a few ends and beat you, please remember it is not the fault of the green!!  Good bowling everybody.  Anthony
